Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Drive to the Londorossi Gate and complete the necessary park entry formalities. The trek commences through the pristine rainforest, allowing you to immerse yourself in the lush surroundings. Your first camp, Mti Mkubwa Camp, rests at 2,820 meters and offers a serene start to your Kilimanjaro journey.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Continuing your ascent, you’ll leave the rainforest behind and enter the heath and moorland zone. The day’s journey leads you to Shira 1 Camp, located at 3,610 meters, where you’ll spend the night and savor panoramic views.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Today, your adventure takes you further into the moorland zone, offering breathtaking vistas along the way. Your destination is Shira 2 Camp, perched on the Shira Plateau at 3,850 meters.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower and Moir Hut
You’ll be on a trek to the Lava Tower, a fascinating volcanic formation, and then descend to Moir Hut at 4,200 meters. This strategic descent aids in acclimatization, preparing you for the challenges ahead.
Day 5: Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp
You’ll trek through the alpine desert zone, making your way to Buffalo Camp at 4,020 meters. The campsite not only offers remarkable views but also presents ideal conditions for acclimatization.
Day 6: Buffalo Camp to School Hut
Hike to School Hut, which serves as the base camp for your summit attempt. Positioned at 4,715 meters, it’s the perfect location to rest, eat, and prepare for the upcoming summit day.
Day 7: Summit Day - School Hut to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp
Your most challenging day begins with a midnight start. You’ll commence your ascent, reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro, just as the sun graces the horizon. After celebrating your accomplishment, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Descending through the lush rainforest, you’ll make your way to the Mweka Gate. There, you’ll receive your summit certificates, marking your achievement. Finally, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a comfortable night’s rest.
