Day 1: Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Today, you’ll drive to the Lemosho Gate and complete the necessary park entry formalities. The hike begins in the lush rainforest, where you’ll be surrounded by towering trees and the sounds of wildlife. Your first camp, Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp, is nestled at an altitude of 2,750 meters, offering a serene setting for your first night on the mountain.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

As you continue your journey, you’ll ascend through the rainforest and into the moorland zone. The landscape transforms as you make your way to Shira 1 Camp, positioned at an elevation of 3,505 meters. Here, you’ll start to appreciate the stunning views of the Shira Plateau.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Today’s trek takes you through the heath and moorland, where you’ll experience breathtaking panoramic views. Your destination is Shira 2 Camp, located at 3,850 meters on the expansive Shira Plateau. It’s an excellent spot to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

The day’s hike offers a diverse range of experiences. You’ll ascend to the Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp, which sits at 3,960 meters. This strategic descent aids in acclimatization and prepares you for the challenges ahead.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

One of the most exciting parts of the journey, you’ll climb the Great Barranco Wall, offering stunning views. After this exhilarating ascent, you’ll reach Karanga Camp at 4,035 meters, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Today’s trek takes you to Barafu Camp, which serves as the base camp for your impending summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the physically demanding and emotionally rewarding day ahead.

Day 7: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp

The long-awaited summit day begins with a midnight start. You’ll commence your ascent, aiming for Uhuru Peak and the breathtaking sunrise. After conquering the summit, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 8: Descent to Mweka Gate

Descending through the lush rainforest, you’ll make your way to Mweka Gate. There, you’ll receive your summit certificates and be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a comfortable night’s rest.
