Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the Machame Gate to complete park entry formalities. Your journey kicks off in the lush rainforest, providing a serene introduction to Kilimanjaro. Your first camp, Machame Camp, sits at 3,010 meters and is the ideal spot to acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Today, you’ll ascend through the heath and moorland zone, enjoying breathtaking scenery. Your destination is Shira Camp at 3,845 meters, offering magnificent panoramic views of the mountain.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower and Barranco Camp
You’ll venture towards the Lava Tower, a volcanic formation, before descending to Barranco Camp at 3,960 meters. The camp’s stunning location serves the dual purpose of both rest and acclimatization, preparing you for the challenges ahead.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After surmounting the Great Barranco Wall, you’ll continue your journey to Karanga Camp at 4,035 meters. Nestled amidst a backdrop of natural beauty, this camp is vital for acclimatization and a day of well-deserved rest.
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Today, you’re nearing your summit attempt. As you ascend, you’ll reach Barafu Camp, the base camp for your final push to Uhuru Peak. Situated at an altitude of 4,673 meters, Barafu Camp is your last stop before the summit.
Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp
Your most challenging day commences with a midnight start. You’ll ascend to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, the highest point on Kilimanjaro, and witness an unforgettable sunrise. Following your summit, you’ll embark on the descent to Mweka Camp at 3,100 meters, where you can rest and reflect on your remarkable achievement.
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Descending through the lush rainforest, you’ll make your way to Mweka Gate. There, you’ll be presented with your well-earned summit certificates and transferred back to your hotel in Moshi, offering comfort and relaxation.
